From Open Contracts to Money in Your Account
First make funds available by selling contracts or waiting for settlement, then use Transfers to choose an eligible bank account or debit card.

To cash out on Kalshi, first check whether your money is still invested in contracts or already shown as available for withdrawal. If it is invested, the practical trading workflow is to sell the position or wait for settlement before withdrawing the resulting cash. If the balance is available, open Transfers, select Withdraw from Kalshi, and choose an eligible bank account or debit card.
Selling and withdrawing are separate actions: selling a position does not automatically send money to a bank or card. Guidance on selling before settlement comes from a third-party explanation of Kalshi position exits, so rely on the current Kalshi interface for the exact sale controls and estimated proceeds.
The short answer: determine which cash-out stage you are in
There are two possible starting points:
- You have an open position. The contracts need to become cash through a sale or market settlement before those proceeds can be withdrawn.
- You have an available cash balance. You can proceed to Transfers and select an eligible withdrawal method.
If you want to leave a position before settlement, an immediately executable sale trades against bids currently available in the order book. A limit sell lets you choose the minimum price you will accept, but it may remain unfilled if no buyer agrees to that price.
An immediate exit can return less than the position value displayed on the market screen. The executable bid may be below the displayed price, and a larger order may consume the best available bids before filling at lower levels. The bid-ask spread, order-book depth, slippage, and applicable trading fees can therefore reduce the cash generated by the sale.
Before submitting a sale, review the number of contracts, execution or limit price, estimated proceeds, and displayed fees. A limit order offers more price control but no guarantee of execution. An immediately executable order prioritizes speed, potentially at a less favorable average price.
Choose a withdrawal method
Choose based on eligibility and urgency rather than treating either method as universally better.
| Factor | Bank transfer | Debit card |
|---|---|---|
| Typical timing | A few business days | A few hours, subject to issuer processing |
| Reported Kalshi fee | None | None |
| Geographic availability | U.S. users only | Eligible U.S. and international users |
| Prerequisite | Linked bank account | Eligible supported card |
| Common constraints | Security holds and bank processing | Personalized limits, issuer or regional restrictions, compliance review |
Kalshi’s bank-withdrawal guidance supports the bank timing, fee, eligibility, and linked-account details in the table.
Kalshi’s debit-card withdrawal guidance says card withdrawals have no Kalshi fee and typically arrive within a few hours, although processing depends on the bank or card issuer. It also confirms that eligibility is not universal: a country, region, card, issuer, or payment processor may be unsupported.
Choose a bank transfer if you are eligible, have a linked account, and do not need the money immediately. Consider a debit card if it is supported and faster access matters. Before submitting either type of withdrawal, confirm the available balance, destination, account-specific limit, expected timing, and any final charge shown on screen.
How to withdraw to a bank account
The documented bank-withdrawal sequence is:
- Open Transfers.
- Select Withdraw from Kalshi.
- Choose Bank Transfer.
- Select your linked bank account.
- Complete or review the transaction details.
- Confirm the withdrawal.
This route requires a linked bank account and is available only to U.S. users. Kalshi reports no bank-withdrawal fee, and funds typically arrive within a few business days rather than by a guaranteed deadline, according to its bank-withdrawal instructions.
Before confirming:
- Check that the linked destination account is active and that its displayed details are correct.
- Make sure the amount is available for withdrawal rather than invested or held.
- Review the withdrawal amount.
- Retain the transaction details, including any reference or trace ID provided.
Bank processing may continue after the withdrawal has been submitted, so an in-progress transfer is not necessarily delayed or unsuccessful.
How to withdraw to a debit card
The documented debit-card sequence is:
- Open Transfers.
- Select Withdraw from Kalshi.
- Choose Debit Card.
- Select an eligible card.
- Complete or review the transaction details.
- Confirm the withdrawal.
An eligible debit card connected through Apple Pay or Google Pay may also appear as a destination.
Debit-card withdrawals can be available to eligible U.S. and international users, but international availability varies. Support depends on factors such as the country or region, card, issuer, payment processor, and account status. Review the destination, available amount, personalized limit, timing estimate, and final fee disclosure before confirming.
Why cash may be unavailable, delayed, or returned
Start with the symptom shown in your account instead of treating every delay as the same problem.
Your cash balance is unavailable after a recent deposit
Recently deposited money may be subject to a temporary security hold. Check the withdrawal screen for the date or time when the funds become available; there is no single supported hold period that applies to every deposit method.
Also check whether the money is still represented by contracts in an open position. In that case, it has not yet become an available cash balance for withdrawal.
The debit-card option has disappeared
A payment-processor compliance review is one possible cause. Kalshi says these reviews typically take three to five business days. The option may also be unavailable because the card, issuer, region, or account is unsupported.
Your card payout was declined or could not be accepted
If a card issuer declines a withdrawal, the funds generally remain available in the Kalshi balance. If a bank cannot accept a debit-card payout, the money is usually returned to the balance within a few hours, although that is not a guaranteed deadline. Kalshi’s debit-card guidance also lists ACH, crypto where available, wires for amounts above $500,000, and PayPal or Venmo for eligible users as possible alternatives. It identifies Cash App as a deposit method, not a withdrawal destination.
Contact the card issuer if it initiated the decline. A decline is different from normal processing: a payout still within its expected processing window has not necessarily failed.
You sent the payout to a closed or inactive destination
Contact the bank or card issuer and provide:
- The withdrawal amount
- The transaction date
- The reference or trace ID
- Any destination details the institution requests
If the transfer cannot be completed, the funds return to the Kalshi balance. Wait for that return before trying to withdraw the same funds again.
Understand the costs before you confirm
A fee-free withdrawal does not mean the entire cash-out process is cost-free. There are two separate cost stages:
- Exiting a position: The spread, slippage, available order-book depth, and applicable trading fees can reduce the cash generated by selling contracts.
- Withdrawing cash: Kalshi’s official guidance reports no Kalshi fee for standard bank, ACH, or debit-card withdrawals.
This distinction explains why the cash generated by a sale may be lower than the position value displayed before execution even when the later withdrawal has no Kalshi fee. The difference can arise during the trade rather than during the transfer.
The Kalshi fee schedule effective July 7, 2026 lists no settlement fee and no Kalshi fee for ACH withdrawals. It lists wire withdrawals only for amounts above $500,000. Wire fees can vary by bank, making that a specialized option rather than an ordinary withdrawal route.
Review the final disclosure before confirming any nonstandard withdrawal method.
Can I withdraw from Kalshi to Cash App?
No. Current Kalshi guidance identifies Cash App as a deposit method, not a withdrawal destination. Use an eligible withdrawal method displayed in your account.
Can international users withdraw money from Kalshi?
Eligible international users may be able to withdraw to supported debit cards, but the documented bank-transfer route is limited to U.S. users. Card support depends on the country or region, issuer, card, and payment processor.
Are PayPal, Venmo, or crypto withdrawals available?
They may be available depending on account eligibility, location, and current platform support. PayPal and Venmo are listed for eligible users, while crypto is available only in supported circumstances and may carry processor fees. Check the methods and final terms displayed in your account.
The sequence is straightforward: first make sure the funds are an available cash balance, then use Transfers to choose an eligible bank account or debit card. Check for holds and review the destination, timing, limit, and final charges before submitting. Prediction markets involve real money and risk; this guide is educational, not trading advice.
